2014 Commonwealth Games are a fantastic opportunity for ScotlandGlasgow 2014

Glasgow, has been awarded the right to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games, opening up fantastic opportunities for business tourism, not only in Glasgow, but the whole of Scotland. As it can undoubtedly be used to raise the profile of both Glasgow and Scotland as business tourism destinations.

The Games will run for 12 days from July 23 to August 4, 2014 and will be Scotland's first opportunity to stage the Commonwealth Games since Edinburgh played host in 1986.

It's also great news for business tourism in Britain. With London hosting the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Glasgow the 2014 Commonwealth Games, we have two of our gateway cities hosting two major global sporting tournaments, within just two years of each other.

The decision to award the Games to Glasgow is a clear recognition of Scotland's speedy progression up the ranks of superior destinations. It presents an opportunity for the business tourism sector in the country to unite and actively promote the many benefits their country offers to conference and event organisers.
