Claire Jenkins - Market Review
With the financial crisis in the states having negative effects on world stock markets amid fears of a US or even global recession, now more than ever it is crucial to be aware of where budgets are being spent; to make maximum returns from investments.
This is true for players within the business tourism industry as much as it is true to client companies that organise events. So don't be shy in asking your clients to spend money, just ensure every pound they spend is worth them spending. And if we are to face a quieter time, it's equally or in fact even more important to keep your profile high, let your clients know you are there, you are thinking of them and you are valuable to them.
I don't profess to be an expert in economics, but I have listened to many over the past weeks and the general feeling is that if a market downturn does manifest, it will be short and we will see stronger growth in 2009. Personally I believe the industry is strong enough to maintain its prosperity if we hold our nerve, minimise cuts to budgets and plan for continued growth.
