As we head towards the traditional holiday season lull in business travel and tourism activity, I started thinking about this annual occurrence and considering what opportunities exist at this time of year.
Clearly, there will be those in the industry that are so busy with summer parties and outdoor events that they don’t see a summer lull at all. But to those that do experience a quiet period, I’m hoping they use it as an opportunity to review their business activities, setting clear objectives for achieving the most out of the busy autumn and Christmas periods.
This is the time of year that is often used to evaluate the success of PR and marketing activity. You should be asking are our campaigns working, what returns have we seen? Is PR activity having a genuine effect on the business’s enquiry levels; has the profile raising activity really made a difference?
If you have no way of evaluating your PR and marketing activity, then you are doing something wrong and now is a good time to put that right too. As always, do feel free to call our team here if you wish to discuss any ideas.
So while there may be a lull in the market, I think this is all the more reason to get busy with other business matters and I’d be interested to hear your comments on what you are planning.
